The Business and Human Resource Management course brings to life the realities, complexities and challenges of running a business organisation through real life case studies, role plays, innovative assignments and links with industry.
WHY CHOOSE THIS COURSE?
It is important that organisations know how to recruit, select, develop, motivate, performance manage and reward their employees. It is the role of Human Resource Management professionals to ensure that these activities are carried out effectively and efficiently to support the organisation achieve its objectives.
This course is designed to develop a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by Human Resource Management professionals today and support individuals looking to develop a career in Business and Human Resource Management.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
On the Business and Human Resource Management course you will study the following themes: diversity and equality in employment, managing people in an international environment, improving organisational performance, attracting and retaining key talent and leading the organisation through change.
You will have the option to spend a year in industry after completing two years of the course. The year in industry normally gives students paid work experience. You would then be expected to return to the final year of the course and complete your degree in Business and Human Resource Management.
HOW WILL THIS COURSE BE TAUGHT?Workshops will develop your learning through guided exposure to academic works, specialist inputs from industry, team-based projects in and outside class sessions and communications through engaging with the University Virtual Learning system. In addition, you will be allocated an Academic Personal Tutor who will guide and support your learning throughout your studies.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?An estimated percentage breakdown of how your final grade is assessed is as follows: formal examinations 30%; coursework, tests, essays 30%; practical or project work 20%; group work etc. 10%; presentations, posters etc. 10%.

TEACHING CONTACT HOURSIn a typical week you will have up to 14 contact hours of teaching and this will break down as:
Personal tutorial/small group teaching: 1-2 hours of tutorials each week
Medium group teaching: 12 hours of practical classes, workshops or seminars each week
Large group teaching: class sizes on this course are normally such that most of teaching is in small or medium-sized groups. You may be in large classes depending on your option classes
Personal study: 22–24 hours each week studying and revising in your own time
