About this course

You will need at least one of the following:
Four GCSEs at C grade (including Maths and English).
BTec First Diploma in a related subject. (preferably at Merit or Distinction level)
We welcome mature students to the course and suitable entry requirements will be discussed at interview.

Business BTEC National Diploma Level 3

About the course:
This course gives you the opportunity to gain a nationally recognised specific work related qualification - equivalent to three "A" levels.

You will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on workplace situations, activities and issues. You'll gain the knowledge, understanding and skills you need for entering employment in business or commerce. The course also provides the basis for entry to higher education.

For those already working in administration, marketing, human resources, finance, ICT or having business management responsibilities, the course is an excellent opportunity to gain a nationally recognised qualification at Level 3.

Course Content:
To complete the course, you need to study eighteen units.

Four Core Units provide you with an introduction and greater understanding of business. All of these are fundamental to business success they cover:

  • How businesses manage their resources
  • Marketing
  • Communication

The 14 specialist units include:
  • Introduction to accounting

  • Internet & E-Business

  • Improving Performance in the Workplace

Not only will you gain a greater understanding of how a business works but you will also develop some of the important skills that contribute towards business success.

Learning Style:
In addition to the course, you will have the opportunity to participate in other activities, including "Young Enterprise" - giving you the opportunity to work with others in starting and running a business making and selling real products to an identified target market. The course team also organise an annual visit overseas to develop further understanding of business operations.

Equipment Requirements:
There are no special equipment requirements for this course.

Assessment:
The course is assessed by coursework - there are no exams. You will be set task deadlines throughout the year and will be expected to meet them.

Progression:
On successful completion of this course, you can progress on to the Higher National Certificate in Business, go on to University, or move into work.

Attendance - Two years, Full Time

If you are under 19 at the start of the course, and studying a full time course, there are no tuition / exam fees.
