Butler Course

The butler is a specialized family collaborator whose role is to govern and supervise all the activities of a home, manage the staff and maintenance work so that everything is always in perfect order. Together with the housekeeper, the butler is the one who oversees the service staff and the smooth running of daily maintenance activities in a house, courtyard, villa, palace or family. n the nineteenth century the butler was the director of the male component of the staff who served in the large residences. The wealthiest families could hire an impressive number of servants, such as waiters and gardeners, so there was a hierarchy between them, based mainly on gender and experience. Discreet and not at all intrusive in reality, in fiction the butler is very relevant and has assumed an important role in literature and in the representative arts (cinema and theater), where on some occasions he introduces the events narrated. He too is often the one who ironically comments on events and often proves to be more intelligent than his masters. He usually looks serious and unperturbed. The figure of the butler is decisive in work contexts such as those mentioned above, because he must take care of the management relating to domestic activities, for example, and must also coordinate the servants. By virtue of this, a butler must have excellent communication and organizational skills (also in view of the organization of an important event) to be able to manage all those activities of a wealthy family and which the members themselves cannot take care of.
