This qualification has been designed to give you a solid foundation of
knowledge and practical skills, allowing you to work unsupervised, or
to supervise other staff in an early years setting. The CACHE Diploma in Childcare and Education is made up of twelve units, all of which must be completed to achieve the qualification.

The units include:

· An introduction to working with children
· Development from conception to age 5 years
· Supporting children
· Keeping children safe
· The principles underpinning the role of the practitioner
· Promoting a healthy environment for children
· Play and learning in childrens education
· Caring for children
· Development of professional skills.

As part of this course you will have to complete a range of early years
placements in a nursery or similar setting, which is an important part of this course. You must complete a minimum of 750 hours competent practice in the workplace setting. You will be given the opportunity to achieve additional qualifications alongside your main course, including qualifications in Functional Skills and specialist awards that are relevant to your subject.

How will I be assessed?
This qualification is assessed via coursework, which includes projects, assignments, presentations and practical activities.

Progression
On successful completion you may:

Progress to a university level qualification to train as an Early Years Teacher, Social Worker, Midwife or General Nurse (subject to you also having gained GCSEs in English and Mathematics in the A*-C range).

Or

Start an exciting and rewarding career in the early years sector, for example as a Pre-school Leader, Early Years Practitioner, Nanny or Nursery Supervisor.

There are endless career possibilities available locally, nationally or even internationally.

Achieving this course will give you the equivalent of 2 A Levels.
