In order to qualify for this course students must have; *2 GCSEs at grades E-G (one must be in English Language), *Or achievement of a relevant entry level programme. *2 references; good record of achievement and a successful interview. *A CRB check.

What will I study?
This course provides a basic awareness of child care and education. During the course, work experience in a child care setting will take place this allows the learner to gain knowledge and experience of working with children.
How can I progress?
Progression is possible to the CACHE Certificate in Child Care and Education Programme level 2 once the following has been achieved; *Sucessfully passing level 1 multiple choice paper and all course work for level 1. *Also successfuly completing placement days and a good standard of behaviour.

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *Personal development, *Human growth and development (birth to old age), *Food and nutrition, *Health and safety practices in home and group care settings, *Care of children, *Play and practical activities, *Orientation to work, *You will look at your own personal development, *Look at development from birth to old age, *Look at healthy balanced diet for babies and young children, *Looking at health and safety practices in the home and in childcare setting, *Looking at the care of the child from birth, *Looking at play and activities and how it develops children, *Looking at skills and abilities needed in a child care setting. Candidates will study five assignments and sit a multiple choice paper at the end of the course.
