CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
Course summary:
The course consists of practical, work-related tasks to demonstrate competence at Level 3 based on the National Occupational Standards for Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
Course content:
These qualifications are offered as work based learning and delivered solely in the candidate†s work place or placement. Enrolment is roll on, roll off and you can enrol at any time.
The Level 3 qualification is suitable for more experienced Teaching Assistants who have a wider range of responsibilities.
Candidates who are volunteering in schools may be eligible for both courses. Parent volunteers or candidates who would like to gain a qualification in a work placement.
Funding is available through the Train to Gain programme, please contact the college for eligibility.
Course structure:
Learners must already either be employed or in a practical placement in a setting with children of any age in reception, primary, secondary or special school for the whole period of the qualification.
This is a 10 unit award which takes approximately 12 months.
Assessment procedure:
Direct observation within the workplace combined with a portfolio of additional evidence such as, professional discussions and witness testimonies.
Entry requirements:
Learners must be at least 18 years of age and preferably have completed the Level 2 qualification.
Qualifications achieved:
CACHE Level 3 NVQ in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
Progression opportunities:
On successful completion of the course students progress to employment as a Teaching Assistant, Special Needs Assistant or Learning Support Assistant.
Free study and financial support:
Many part-time students at South Tyneside College do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, depending on the course and the number of hours a week you study, you may be eligible for an Adult Learners†Grant. Please ask us about free study and financial support when you apply.
