Course review:

This one day workshop is for people who want to familiarise themselves with the Canon XF305 as well as learning some basic shooting techniques

This workshop will go through the menu settings of the 305 to enable you to understand the functionality of the camera.

We also teach basic shooting techniques including how the camera performs under natural light and under various artificial lighting conditions.

This workshop is designed to get you up to speed on using the Canon XF305 and you will come away with the ability to shoot with it confidently. We include a look at lenses and using lens adaptors.

The course involves classroom work as well as going out on location around the outside of the Olympic park next to our training rooms.

Course Detail:

Topics covered include

Menu settings on the Canon XF305

Basic picture composition, framing, getting enough coverage for an edit.

A brief overview of recording formats. A look at picture compression systems and post production workflow.

Exposure. How to expose correctly and using Zebra stripes.

Which lens to use, Optical problems, Adaptors, getting shallow depth of field using lenses.

Interlaced or progressive. Using various shutter speeds and frame rates.

How to rig the camera and shooting with camera rigs as well as hand held.

Working with audio, testing the signal path and simple microphone techniques.

Understanding of basic lighting. Tungsten or daylight. An explanation of degrees kelvin.

Shot descriptions, script abbreviations, eye lines, shot matching and perspective.
