Who is the course for?
The course is designed for students who have a keen interest in Carpentry and Joinery and the Construction industry.
What is the course about?
The course will cover the following topics:
Fixing Skirtings, Architraves and hinged doors.
Using power tools.
Fitting and Hanging doors.
Fitting locks and using a circular saw
Will I need anything else?
Safety Boots and overalls must be worn in all workshop sessions.
Pens, pencils and ring binders are required.
All tools will be provided in practical sessions
How long & often do I attend?
The course starts week beginning 17th September 2009 and runs for 16 hours per week for 36 weeks.
Minimum attendance is 90%.
How will I be assessed?
Completion of practical tasks assessed by your tutor, the production of a portfolio and pass online Gola exams.
What opportunities will this lead to?
Following this course you may progress onto a Level 3 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery, or upon gaining relevant employment an NVQ2 Apprenticeship. A wide range of employment opportunities in the Construction Industry.
