The course contains 15 occupational standard units designed by SQA, CITB & industry. An external Health & Safety Test (CSCS) and a final CITB Skilltest in the 4th year of apprenticeship to complete the SVQ are compulsory elements. The occupational standards units contain the traditional joinery skills such as 1st and 2nd fixing, manufacture of door, window, stairs etc and core subjects.

DESCRIPTION:
This course is run over 2 years with college attendance split 20 weeks in the 1st year in 4 weekly blocks, with 15 weeks in 2nd year in 2 weekly blocks. The course has a work placed assessment element built in. SVQ Level III is the course recognised by industry as the training level for modern apprentices.
