Course programme

What will I learn?

You will learn about: health and safety in construction; basic woodworking tool skills; setting out; manufacturing of basic joinery items; the theory behind carpentry & joinery; and Functional Skills

How will I be assessed?

You will: be observed doing practical tests; create a portfolio of work; and do online tests

What may it lead to?

You may progress onto the Level 2 Construction Diploma in Site Carpentry or Bench Joinery courses

Entry Requirements

You will need: 4 GCSEs at grades D or E (including Maths and English); to score a Level 1 or above in the Functional Skills 'Number and Communication' diagnostic test; and a satisfactory report from school or previous learning institution Entry on the course will be subject to an interview

Work Experience

All work experienced is encouraged

Additional Information & Other Costs

You will be required to have steel toe capped safety work boots and a basic stationary kit for writing, drawing and classroom activities A carpentry textbook will be required
