Certificate/Diploma in Computing
Course Duration: 2 years Part-time. A further 2 Years Part-time to gain the Diploma in Computing
Start Date: Because the modules run for 15 weeks, some start at the end of September and some at the end of January

What is the course about?
This programme enables anyone to develop their ICT/Computing knowledge or skills by completing individual subject modules. You can study as many modules as you like, but if the Certificate is what you want to achieve then you must complete at least four modules. If you wanted to go on and achieve the Diploma, then you have to complete eight modules. Individual module content varies from Web Site Development to Network Systems; from Database Design and Implementation to PC Hardware and Operating Systems.
Course Structure
The Programme is delivered at Selby College in partnership with Leeds Metropolitan University (Leeds Met) and can result in the award of the Certificate in Computing Studies. Students may also wish to continue with their studies to complete the Diploma in Computing or the Foundation Degree (see pages 14-17 of this course guide). To complete the Certificate, four modules are required. For the Diploma, eight modules must be completed - four of them must be from Level 2*.
Modules are usually delivered over a 15 week semester, in one three-hour session per week. Most of the sessions are in the evening.
*The modules have levels assigned to them. Level 1 is
a first year Degree, Level 2 is the second year.
