About this course

In order to qualify for this course students must have; *A level 3 qualification in their own subject specialism (or degree for PGCE). *Have an appropriate level of education (5 GCSEs at C and above or equivalent) . *Potential to complete 75 hours of teaching (which may be voluntary) in each of the two years of the programme.

What will I study?
This qualification is open to all new in service, teachers, trainers and tutors in the Lifelong Learning Sector. The certificate is designed for those who are employed in a full teaching role having responsibility for learners throughout the learning process and engaging in teaching on a range of academic levels within their subject specialism. The programme leads to QTLS (Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills) status (post compulsory sector). Is there any APL available? APL of a maximum of 10 credits will be given to entrants who are holders of a threshold award 'Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector' from any other awarding body providing it is at Level 1HE / 4NQF against the equivalent part of the Certificate programme. APL of a maximum of 20 credits will be given to entrants who are holders of a Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector from any other awarding body providing it is at Level 1HE / 4NQF against the equivalent part of the Certificate programme.

How can I progress?
Undergraduate trainees will have 120 credits at undergraduate level and can progress onto Combined Honours programmes, BA in Education and CPD Framework at the University of Central Lancashire. PGCE Students will have 60 credits at Masters level and can progress onto the MA in Educational Research.

What will I need to qualify for this course?

Course Structure
Whilst studying towards this qualification the following modules will be covered; *An initial assessment of literacy, numeracy and ICT skills and commencement of the Professional Development Portfolio. *Completion of the threshold award 'Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector'. *Teaching and Reflecting on own Practice; including 75 hours of teaching practice and 4 hours of observed practice in each of the two years of the programme.
