Core Skills:
At the end of the course, students will understand the:
  • purpose and structure of the UK financial services industry;
  • different financial asset classes and product types;
  • process of giving advice and the main areas covered;
  • ethics, regulatory processes, rules and legislation underpinning UK financial services;
  • use of the FSA's regulatory powers and responsibilities to protect the market's integrity and the impact on individuals and firms of the FSA's regulatory powers.

Assessment:
The method of assessment is by a formal examination administered by the Chartered Insurance Institute.

Online exam sittings enable you to enter for the exam when you are ready, with provisional results provided instantaneously.

The current examination centre is located within City College Norwich.

Academic Progression:
Further Financial Planning examinations covering life, pension, investment and mortgage products are available for those wishing to give financial advice or looking to expand their knowledge of the Financial Services industry.

Career Progression:
Completion of the CF1 qualification is an excellent way to demonstrate to employers that you are serious about fulfilling a successful career within the industry whether as a Financial Advisor or within an administrative or technical capacity within the Financial Services industry.

Successful completion of The Chartered Insurance (CF1) examination combined with completion of The Certificate in Mortgage Advice (CF6) meets the FSA qualification requirements for Mortgage Advisors and provides a qualification equivalent to CeMAP.

Students are able to take CF1 or CF6 in which ever order they choose.
