Course programme
This course is designed for, and targeted at, those people intent on being part of the Hairdressing Industry. You should have interest, enthusiasm and a commitment to succeed and once accepted on the course will be introduced to all aspects of hairdressing. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be prepared for the challenges of industry and/or progression into further studies leading to advanced career development. You will be given the opportunity to ‘learn by doing’ within this flexible programme.
Skills and knowledge that are needed to start a career in Hair. Subjects include: Maths and English to support you in the workplace. Hairdressing: various cutting techniques to create different hair shapes and styles including gents; colouring, lightening; shampooing and conditioning; styling techniques; consultation and diagnostics; salon organisation; reception skills; health, safety and security; use of computers; retailing; stock control; teamwork; interpersonal skills. Opportunities exist for students to obtain further additional qualifications.
As part of this course you will attend lessons in the following subjects;

These classes will be with subject specialists and delivered at a level to suit you.
The learning programme incorporates demonstration and student participation, including lectures; discussions, projects, and self directed study, using a multimedia approach where appropriate. Within the programme, students receive full support in their skill development and acquisition of competence. Specialist learning support is available. Students are assessed through practical observation of skills, questioning portfolio evidence and exams.
There is a varied range of opportunities for those with the right outlook and attitude in the world of hairdressing. Successful students can progress to level 3 hairdressing or Top-to-Toe, working in Salons as stylists, salon ownership/self employed, health farms, cruise liners, hospital work, retailing outlets, technician work, manufacturing companies and reception work.
