Chemical Awareness Course

To provide delegates with an awareness of the hazards of chemicals they use and the precautions and procedures to be adopted to allow safe handling.

Course Objectives

Delegates will be brought up to a basic level of Safety Awareness and be able to:

• Understand the hazards of particular chemicals from the product label.
• Appreciate what safety information is available from a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
• Understand how to use such safety information in deriving or reviewing the COSHH and Risk Assessments for a material or a process involving a hazardous material.
• Appreciate the safeworking procedures for handling storage, use and transport of chemicals within their workplace including dealing with spillages.
• Understand the legislation covering hazardous substances (COSHH) and means of protecting themselves (COSHH, PPE)
