By the end of the course, you will learn to:
have created a series of quick, playful drawings
have created some imaginary monster or animal characters
drawn or collaged a human character
made a simple illustration
sketched out a simple narrative storyboard
gained an overview of the children's publishing industry
This course is suitable for beginners with an interest in children's illustration and for more experienced designers or visual artists wanting to try something new.

- 11.00 to 11.30am: Visual Brainstorming exercise
- 11.30 to 12.30am: Creating imaginary characters
- 12.30 to 1.30pm: Drawing child characters in lots of different ways including looking at facial expressions
- 2.30 to 3.30pm: Create a simple illustrated scene
- 3.30 to 4.30pm: Sketch a simple 3 panel narrative storyboard
- 4.30 to 5pm: Q&A about children's publishing industry
