About this course
You will need to be working with children (0-16) at Level 3. You will have a good standard of English and Maths so that you can achieve your Functional Skills Award at Level 2. Your employer will support your study and assessment at Level 3 in the workplace.

Summary
This 18 month programme will enable 16-18 year olds working at Level 3 in childcare to gain all the components of the Advanced Apprenticeship in Children's Care, Learning & Development.
About the Course
You will be in college for one day per week during term time studying for NVQ 3 in Children's Care, Learning & Development plus the Level 3 Certificate in Children's Care, Learning and Development. You will complete a 12 hour Paediatric First Aid Qualification, plus an induction covering workplace employment rights and responsibilities.
You will be assessed in your workplace by NVQ assessors as well as studying Functional Skills in English and Maths at Level 2.
To gain your Advanced Apprenticeship you must achieve all of these elements.

How is the course assessed?
You will be assessed on your practice in your work with children. You will have external tests and will build portfolios of evidence.
Fees
No Course Fees for Under 19's. Over 19's must pay, or claim Level 2 or Level 3 Entitlement for FREE courses .
What facilities can be used on this course?
At college you will have a tutor and an assessor. You will have a base to study in and access to paper and electronic based resources in the Learning Resource Centre.
What next?
After gaining your Advanced Apprenticeship you could, with relevant experience apply to study in Higher Education e.g. in Foundation Degree or a Degree or use use the award to further your employment options.
