The Children's Care Learning & Development BTEC First Diploma is designed to provide a specialist work related qualification in the early years sector. It also provides opportunities for learners to gain a nationally recognised vocationally specific qualification to enter employment as an early years worker.

Who The Course is for
Those who wish to gain a recognised qualification in Children†s Care, Learning and Development.
To work in a childcare setting, you should be:

- good with children

- energetic and creative
- genuinely interested in children.

Course Content
Students will study 5 compulsory units plus 1 optional unit.
- Understanding Children's Development
- Keeping Children Safe
- Communication with Children and Adults
- Preparing and maintaining Environments for Child Care
- Professional Development, Roles and Responsibilities in Child Care.
- The Development and Care of Babies and Children under Three Years.
Key skills in communication will also be studied as an integral part of the course.
240 hours of compulsory work experience placement is required to complete this qualification.

Entry RequirementsLearning & Assessment Methods
Students will complete assignments with all 6 units internally assessed. There are no external exams. Successful completion of 240 hours of work experience placement is required to complete the qualification.
