About this course

Course programme
Level 3 learners will also tend to have greater responsibility and will sometimes be involved in the supervision of other staff.
Available as a full certificate or as individual units, this qualification can be undertaken as a standalone award or alongside the Care and Promoting Independence Level 3 NVQ. It can also be used to certificate continuing development or as a stepping stone to professional training such as social work or nursing.
There are a large variety of units to select from which are all based specifically around the learning disability specialism. This provides a range of pathways for workers across the full spectrum of services.
There are five core units that each learner must complete: undertaking assessment and care planning; monitoring, evaluating and reviewing care plans; handle information; understanding approaches to learning disability; assessing and managing risk.
Then there are a number of optional units that learners can choose from: enabling people to make informed choices; working positively with other agencies; managing behaviour which challenges; supporting relationships - families, carers, friends; manage change and transition; support service users to access health care services.
