Course programme

The course is the most widely recognised health and safety qualification for the construction industry. It is designed to give site managers, contracts managers and assistant site managers the knowledge, awareness and practical know-how to safely manage construction sites in accordance with current legislation and industry best practice.

Along with the Site Supervisors Safety Training Scheme (SSSTS) the SMSTS course is endorsed by UKCG (UK Contractors Group, previously MCG, Major Contractors Group) who require that ALL supervisors working on UKCG member companies’ sites from 1 January 2010 must demonstrate that they have the necessary knowledge and skills to supervise their workers effectively.

Courses are run on a day release basis (one day a week for 5 weeks) on a regular basis at Northern Safety Ltd in Stockton-on-Tees.

Additional courses are run on demand in or near Harrogate, Leeds, York, or elsewhere in the North of England.
