Through the year, you will learn the various skills of social scientists: debate, evaluating arguments and evidence, reflection on ideas.

Learning Styles
Studying Citizenship involves reading and discussing research evidence, ideas and theories about society.
Books, magazines, articles, videos as well as the internet may provide the source material.
Students may be expected to participate in debate, do presentations, say what they think, as well as write essays, make notes etc.
The course is assessed by 100% examinations - see below.

Subject combinations and progression

The subject matter of Citizenship has links with Sociology, Politics, Law, History and General Studies.
In terms of subject combinations it combines well with most subjects and provides a useful insight into aspects of society.
Students who study Citizenship go on to study an enormous range of subjects including the vast range of Social Science based courses.

Subject modules and assessment

Assessment pattern:
100% exam - in 3 modules (33 1/3rd% each module)
" Unit 1: The Citizen and the State. 1hour 30 minutes in January.
" Unit 2: The Citizen and the Political Process. 1hour 30 minutes in June.
" Unit 3: The Citizen, Society and the Community. 1hour 30 minutes in June.
