Introduction
Pathway: Level 3 Certificate in Engineering - Mechanical Manufacturing Engineering
This award is aimed at young people who:
  • are following an Advanced Apprenticeship programme and need to meet the Technical Certificate requirements
  • already hold a Level 2 qualification or have relevant experience in engineering and wish to develop skills learnt from the Level 2 qualification
  • wish for a career and academic progression within the engineering industry
Course Content
* It is expected that candidates should have an engineering Level 2 qualification in order to be able to satisfactorily complete the course of study
There are 2 core units:
  • Unit 1: Working effectively and safely in an Engineering Environment
  • Unit 2: Engineering Principles and Practice
There is one 'Principles' unit which needs to be completed.
  • Unit 9: Principles of mechanical manufacture engineering
There are three optional units which need to be completed.
  • Unit 39: Turning
  • Unit 44: Fitting
  • Unit 47: Computer aided design (CAD)
However, for students wishing to progress to a higher level qualification, namely HNC or Foundation Degree, a unit 50 "Advanced Mathematics and Science" will be studied
Entry Requirements
It is expected that candidates should have an Engineering Level 2 qualification in order to be able to satisfactorily complete the course of study.
Progression
The C&G 2800 qualification meets SEMTA industrial standards and satisfies requirements of the Modern Apprenticeship framework.
