Suitable for those who have worked in the dog grooming industry for some time and who have gained experience plus completed the Level 3 Introductory course. Now wishing to expand your skills further, learn how to style more technical breeds of dog by addressing styling technique, with a view to a salon management position.

You complete 7 core units:

Assessment and planning of dog grooming work

Carry out styling and finishing of dogs

Promote and maintain the health and wellbeing of animals

Health checking a dog by a dog groomer

Hand stripping a dog's coat

Style and trim a short-legged terrier's coat

Style and trim a spaniel's coat
NB: Level 3 Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming is a pre-requisite for the Level 3 Diploma (hence why the same units are in the diploma).
You also choose optional units from group 1, to give you at least 2 additional credits, from:
(Each optional unit has a credit value between 2 and 6 credits.)

The City & Guilds Dog Grooming level 3 course consists of two separate components, Certificate in Introductory Dog Grooming and Diploma for Professional Dog Stylists. The first part (Introductory) is able to be taken as a stand-alone qualification, whilst the second part (Professional) is a continuation of the qualification, requiring the marks achieved in the Introductory component to be carried forward in order to achieve the final grade.
