This is a workshop environment where students can work on their own project and receive some individual tutorial input. We will share information on technical and conceptual aspects of film in general and Premiere Pro CC and FCPX in particular. It is possible to show your work to other students and get their feed-back, either in smaller sub-groups, or in the larger forum setting.

About this course

1. Advance with your own project
2. identify at least one aspect of your own project that you’d like to improve
3. identify at least one strategy to implement this improvement
4. develop your ability to engage with other people’s work (formulate a critical response).

You need to bring you work on removable storage or on your own laptop.
You might also want to consider purchasing other books related to the subject of film making and editing. We will also provide you with some hand-outs free of charge and you can make use of books in the library.
Please note that a portable hard drive/USB stick if PC formatted can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to. CDs/DVDs are available.

Course programme

1. Working on your own project (with individual tutorial and peer feed-back)

3. Peer presentations and critical feed-back
4. Workshop common issues in PRE and FCPX.

There will be some individual tutorial support and some demonstrations. There may be forum sessions were we will look at each other’s work to discuss different aspects of editing/ filmmaking in general and the presented work in particular. Asking questions and commenting is encouraged at all times. Handbooks, manuals and worksheets are available. Please note the City Lit uses Apple Mac computers in Digital arts, Graphics & Illustration and Photography.

Additional information

By the end of the course you should be comfortable to do more involved editing and work with your own material. You may want to join the stage 3 editing class, or our most advanced Tips and Tricks class. There are also other more specialized moving image classes, like a production or post-production class or sound editing.
