This course is designed for those who have achieved a Level One knowledge of IT and wish to further improve their IT skills for the workplace or home. To achieve a certificate you need the mandatory unit plus two optional units.

What does the course involve?
The course revolves around resource based learning to carry out practical tasks with tutor support. Students build up their knowledge, working at their own pace and when ready, take an assessment to achieve their chosen unit certification. This course is considerably more demanding than level one with greater knowlege needed of the applications used. Importance is also placed on the accuracy within your work as you carry out the tasks. To achieve the certificate you need to pass a mandatory unit plus two optional units. This qualification is also offered through Open Learning.

This is a demanding course and students will need to practice outside of the classroom times.

What will I study?
Mandatory Unit Intergrated e-Document Production. This involves editing existing documents and integrating other files into the document.

Optional Units Manipulating Spreadsheets and Graphs (Excel), Creating and using a Database (Access), e-Publication Design (Publisher), Design an e-Presentation (PowerPoint), Electronic Communication (Email/shared diaries plus other functions using Outlook (not Outlook Express).

What are the entry requirements for CLAIT (Certificate for IT User) Level 2?

• You need to have studied computers to standard one level.

How is the course assessed?

• Practical test at the end of each module

You could progress onto BCS ICT User level 3 (ECDL Advanced).
