COURSE CONTENT

This TESOL Preliminary Level Course uses study material tried, tested and regularly updated over a twenty five year period. The programme is designed to provide a basic introduction to the theory and practice of teaching English to speakers of other languages and comprises 9 Modules – each with an input module, self assessment answer key and a tutor assessed worksheet.

and a set of “language awareness” powerpoint presentations as part of our global grammar review (course introduction and overview), which can be used on course completion as language awareness materials in future lessons.

This is a highly practical course designed to provide candidates with the initial basic skills they will need to teach English as a foreign language and should be seen as the building blocks that form part of our modular pathway to higher levels of certification at a later date.

Successful completion will confirm that candidates have a basic understanding of the essential aspects of the EFL teacher’s role, can organise and manage effective learning and have developed professionally through on-going reflection and evaluation.

This course is examined by continual assessment of the worksheet assignments for each module and is assessed against model answers with guidance slips where needed.
