Introduction:
This course has a strong practical content and aims to provide students with a basic working knowledge of industrial computer aided draughting systems, and to significantly reduce the time needed to become competent on any computer aided draughting system. At Preston College we teach you using AutoCAD software. The course can be adapted via varied project work to compliment almost any engineering discipline such as Mechanical engineering design, Architectural design, Construction etc.

Study Mode & Location:
This one year part-time course lasts for 3 hours per week and will be held at Preston College, Fulwood Campus, St Vincent`s Road, Preston, PR2 8UR.

Course Content:
The course covers: Hardware Theory.

Software Theory.

Preparing 2D Drawings.

Initialising a CAD System.

Plotting 2D Drawings.

Assessment:
Assessment is continual and assessment decisions are based upon course work, practical tasks and projects relating to the students engineering background or discipline. A small multi choice style paper is used to assess theory.

Careers & Progression Opportunities:
Students can progress from this course to the City & Guilds Advanced course in Computer Aided Design or into employment.

How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
