Computing for New Learners
This ia an excellent course for beginners to become familiar with using a computer. An intoduction to the basics of how to use a computer in an informal class giving students an opportunity to have a go at a range of software.

What does the course involve?
The course will involve some group work, paired activities and working individually on the computers through taught lessons. The courses are run at our two centres The Castle or Tetbury Learning Centre and out in the community at a variety of outreach venues. All learning materials are provided.
What will I study?
The content on the course is variable and will be agreed within the class. As this is a beginners course the topics which will be covered are operating a computer and Word Processing. You may also cover one of the following software - Spreadsheets, Databases and Desktop Publishing.

Do I need to have used the computer before coming on this course?
This course doesn't require you to have any previous computer skills as this course is designed for both beginners and those with some previous experience.
Do I need access to a computer at home?
It would help to have a computer at home so that you have the opportunity to practice your new skills between lessons but it is not essential.
Do I get a qualification for completeing this course?
No. This course is not a qualified course. The tutor will advise towards the end of the course what qualified courses are available if you want to go on and gain a qualification.
Do I have to take assessments?
No you do not have to complete an assessment with this course as it is not a qualified course. Tutors will review your progress throughout the course after you have completed tasks.
