About this course

This qualification is available to learners aged 19 and over on 31 August in the year you begin studying.



Learners need to be working at entry level 3 or above for literacy skills. We welcome learners who can demonstrate relevant understanding of spoken and written English. Learners in receipt of JSA / ESA / income support or universal credit can asked to be referred by their JCP Work Coach for this programme.

Course programme

Year 1

You will study: how communication can be used to solve problems and reduce the likelihood of conflict; the factors that influence human responses in conflict situations; how to assess and reduce risks in conflict situations; how to communicate effectively and de-escalate conflict in emotive situations; and good practice to follow after conflict situations.

The qualification provides learners with the knowledge and understanding in conflict management. It can also be a useful qualification for individuals who would like a better understanding of how to prevent conflict situations, and who would like to gain more confidence in being able to deal with conflict situations should they arise.

Study will be via taught classes.



Additional information

There are externally set and externally assessed paper-based multiple-choice questions. Learners must achieve a score of at least 20 out of 30 to pass.
