2. Course description On this civil engineering pathway of the HNC you will study the following units: · design principles and application for construction and the built environment  · science and materials for construction and the built environment  · applied mathematics for construction and the built environment  · group project in the construction industry  · site surveying procedures for construction and the built environment  · engineering geology and soil mechanics · civil engineering technology  · structural analysis and design Studying and working at the same time will require good organisational and time management skills, but it will allow you to use what you've learned immediately in your job. You can also use real-life experiences in your studies and share examples of good practice with your fellow students on the course. You will study at our Basford Hall site, which from September 2015 will be completely transformed. We'll have brand new facilities focusing on providing specialist training in construction, science, technology and engineering, building on the strength of our existing reputation in these areas.

Entry requirements You should be employed in the building services sector of the construction industry and have at least one of the following: · at least two A Levels at ‘A2', with one in a related subject area · a BTEC Diploma or Extended Diploma in Civil Engineering or Construction · International Baccalaureate · an equivalent Level 3 qualification in a relevant subject area Mature students with relevant experience and/or qualifications, including an Access to HE Diploma within a relevant area, are welcome to apply. 4. Equipment required Where appropriate, any equipment required (e.g. protective clothing) will be discussed with you at interview/enrolment.
