Course programme

You will develop practical skills in a range of woodwork and furniture making techniques. You will carry out theory lessons in a classroom and practical activities in a professional workshop environment within the college. You will also develop your Maths, English and ICT skills. You will also have the opportunity to undertake work experience.


Proven record of safe and responsible behaviour and successful completion of a practical pathway at Entry Level 3.


You will be assessed by coursework, a portfolio of work, and your efforts during your work placement. If you complete all parts of the course successfully you will achieve a City & Guilds Certificate in Basic Construction (Woodworking), Functional Skills Maths, Functional Skills English and an Award in IT User skills

You can go straight onto the Level 2 Woodwork & Furniture-making course or progress to paid or supported employment. You may also continue into other work-based training.
