Control of Infection This course will look at:

· Signs and symptoms of infection in self and others
· Identifying possible sources of infection (risk assessment)
· Causes of the spread of infection
· Personal good practices preventing the spread of infection
· Safety in the disposal of waste (including clinical waste)
· Hygiene and infection control procedures

The course lasts for 3 to 5 hours depending on the nature of the work environment.
Two sessions of 3 hours may be carried out on the same day to accommodate different
members of staff (i.e. night staff). The course may be run in conjunction with other
courses on the same day. This course undertakes to address the standards laid out in
the Health and Social Care S/NVQ Level 2 - primarily HSC units 22 and 246 and
related to HSC units 23, 24, 29, 230, 240, and Level 3 - primarily HSC units 32
and related to 33, 35, 3117.This course is run inline with the Induction Standards.
