All organisations need to develop top quality first line managers. Much of their learning comes from experience, but a great fundamental training course can accelerate their development and act as ‘a short cut to experience’. Successful team leaders achieve their objectives by developing and inspiring team members to have confidence in themselves and in each other. The use of interactive and practical exercises and a mix of practical learning methods equip participants with the skills to help their team members reach maximum potential. Any participants that attends our course will also have the opportunity to exchange ideas with other supervisors and managers from a wide variety of backgrounds.

About this course
At the end of this programme, each delegate will have looked at the following objectives:
• Fulfil the role and responsibility of the first line manager – set objectives and key performance indicators and agree development needs with your team
• Use your managerial authority – get the best results from your people and adapt your style to suit different team members
• Improve your communication skills – develop your ability to listen effectively and express your message clearly and concisely
• Give strong team briefings – run meetings in an informative and motivational manner
• Handle challenging people effectively
• Provide job instruction – use the best techniques to help your people learn quickly and thoroughly
• Give feedback – make it constructive so that it both guides and motivates
• Conduct correction interviews – improve performance while strengthening relationships
• Pre-empt potential problems – deal with them before they affect the whole team
The course will benefit any team leader, supervisor or manager responsible for leading, directing and motivating others. The course is particularly valuable for newly appointed team leaders or longer serving managers who have not received any formal training.
