Corset Making for the Theatre, An Introduction
This course gives students the opportunity to make a corset chosen from four different periods: Tudor, 18th century, 1860s-70s and Edwardian, using given pattern blocks. The student will be instructed how to make the corset using traditional methods with steel boning and a choice of Coutil fabric. The RADA Wardrobe department is equipped with both domestic and industrial sewing machines. Small classes ensure plenty of one-to-one teaching.
The course is aimed at those who want to expand their knowledge and skills within this area.
HOURS OF WORK
Classes generally take place between 10am and 5pm, from Monday to Friday. Seminars/classes are not optional: students are expected to behave in a professional manner. Punctuality is essential; records are kept of class attendance and are taken into account when the RADA certificate is issued at the end of the course.
WHAT TO BRING
All equipment and materials will be provided, however students are welcome, and encouraged to bring their own sewing kit. Further details will be sent once you have been accepted on the course.
