Course programme

Course Content:
The CPCAB Level 2 Certificate in Counselling Skills is made up of seven learning outcomes and associated assessment criteria. You will put together a portfolio of assessment tasks and other evidence that will demonstrate you have met these learning outcomes.
1. Use counselling skills ethically and safely
2. Establish and sustain the boundaries of the helping role
3. Work empathically as a helper
4. Focus on the helpee’s needs and concerns
5. Use self-awareness in helping work
6. Use a range of counselling skills to facilitate the helping interaction
7. Use feedback and reflection to enhance counselling skills
Assessment Methods:
Internal assessment: tutor assessment of candidate portfolio evidencing minimum assessment requirements and verified by CPCAB. . Some assessment is based on how you as a learner are able to work independently and within a group setting .
All courses have homework.


External assessment: externally assessed written paper after watching a CPCAB DVD under exam conditions and assessed by CPCAB.

In addition to passing all the assessment criteria and external exam, the learner must achieve the 7 Learning Outcomes
