2. Course description If you're interested in running a shoot, working with deer, managing a river fishery, caring for pheasants, ducks and partridges, using a chainsaw or handling firearms then Level 3 Countryside Management is the course for you!This course is fully integrated with the management of the Lackham Shoot. The shoot is located on the Lackham farm and estate which provides the range of habitats typical of a lowland estate. You will be expected to participate fully in the running of the shoot days as well as playing a full part in all aspects of the shoot management over the two years of the programme. In addition, the College has links with a number of local employers and worksites that can provide opportunities to further experience the diverse and exciting range of game and wildlife management work.One of the requirements of the course is that you must successfully complete a period of assessed work experience between the two years of the programme.

Entry requirements 4 GCSEs at grade A*-C including English, Maths and preferably Science or equivalent (or Merit or Distinction in a related subject at Level 2)A good referenceA satisfactory interview 4. Equipment required You will need to supply your own protective clothing such as waterproof coat, overalls, leggings, safety wellingtons/work boots and gloves.Structured visits and field trips are an important feature of this course. You will need to pay a contribution towards the costs of travel and ticket entry. 5. Assessment method You may prefer to complete written assignments at home or in the College Learning Resource Centre, though study periods are timetabled into the college day.You will study a total of 18 units to achieve the Level 3 90 Credit/Extended Diploma qualification. Each unit will be assessed by a combination of written assignments, class exercises and practical assessments.The final qualification will be BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Countryside Management (Game & Wildlife).
