Course programme
This course is the professional level qualification required to work as a counsellor.
Our Diploma is predominantly based on the Person-Centred approach, although we do explore other approaches. As well as learning bucket loads of theory and developing fantastic counselling skills, we also place a lot of emphasis on your personal development to help you 'blossom' as well as evolving into a knowledgeable and counselling practitioner.
This is a 2 year part time course that is delivered over 6 distinctively different terms where you will explore a range of topics such as ethics, mental health, professional issues and other forms of counselling and therapy...so an interesting and challenging journey guarenteed! The terms will usually run in line with the school terms, so don't panic, you'll still get great Easter, Summer and Christmas breaks!
You must have achieved both the Level 2 and Level 3 certificates in counselling in order to be considered for this programme. Interviews will take place around a month before the start of the course.
Undertaking this high level of counselling training requires commitment. You will also need to undertake one or more placements in order to gain experience of working with clients (a minimum of 100 supervised counselling hours required) and you will also need to engage in at least 20 hours of personal therapy with a qualified and experienced counsellor throughout the duration of the course.
