Why should I study CACHE Level 3 Award/Certificate/Diploma in Childcare and Education?
This is a full time two year course which will provide you with a nationally recognised qualification in Child Care and Education. This qualification prepares you to work independently, or in a supervisory capacity, with children and their families in a variety of settings and environments within the sector of Children's Services.

What will be studied on the course?
The qualification is split into three stages: Award, Certificate and Diploma. It is expected that most people will progress through the Award and Certificate to complete the Diploma in order to be able to practice as an early years practitioner.

AWARD
You must achieve Units 1 and 2; 120 guided learning hours to complete

CERTIFICATE
You must achieve Units 1 -5; 360 guided learning hours to complete

DIPLOMA
You must achieve Units 1 - 9, plus three optional units chosen by your centre from units 10 - 21; 870 guided learning hours to complete. Throughout the qualification you will be expected to participate in professional practice in a variety of settings in order to apply what you have learnt in a practical environment. This will take an additional 750 practical training hours, over two years.

When does the course start and how long does it last?
The Course starts in September and lasts for two academic years, ending in July.

What qualifications are needed to do the course?

• 5 GCSE's at grade C or above (which must include English and maths or science) to study for the Diploma, 4 GCSEs at C or above (which must include English and maths or science) to study for the Certificate which may allow progression to Diploma depending on progress.
• A C or above at Level 2 Child Care and Education, or NVQ Level 3
• The ability to study Key Skills at level 3

How will the learner be assessed?
Learners will be assessed by written assignments internally marked, multi choice, externally set papers, an externally set case-study, through a portfolio of work and through Practice Evidence Records and Professional Development Profiles

How much will the course cost?
Books and resources are provided in the College Learning Resource Centre, but you may wish to invest in a textbook of your own, as advised by your Course Tutor.

What progression routes are available?
The successful completion of this course at Diploma Level has a value of 360 UCAS points. This is recognised by many universities for acceptance on the Higher Education Courses e.g. Teacher Training, Paediatric Nursing
