Creative and Media Diploma (Level 2)
The Creative & Media Diploma will develop your skills in a range of creative areas including art, design, performance and media production alongside research Skills and Independent Learning which can be applied in any creative context. The course is designed for anyone who has an interest in creativity and the creative industries linked to Performing Arts, Art, Design and Media amd successful students will complete work experience and the Functional Skills qualification.
What does the course involve?
The Creative & Media Diploma will develop your Research Skills and Independent Learning which can be applied in any creative context. As a Diploma student you will also be encouraged to develop skills like teamwork and self-management. You will learn how to express yourselves confidently, and how to apply your knowledge and skills creatively. As part of the Diploma students have a minimum of 10 days on an industry related project, either in a work place or following a professional brief. This will give you the opportunity to apply and develop the skills you have learnt in the classroom. This level 2 Diploma (Higher Diploma) is a one year course and it will fill most of a weekly timetable.
What will I study?
The Diploma has four main parts: Principal learning: There are many possible combinations of practical work on this new course. You will explore and develop knowledge and understanding in a wide range of disciplines. At the same time, the course aims to develop a creative and innovative approach as well as providing opportunities for improving practical skills which will bring creative ideas to life.The disciplines include the following choices: 2D and 3D visual arts, music, film, TV, graphics, drama, photography and animation. The principle learning is designed to give you realistic, work related challenges.Generic Learning: Essential life and work skills are crucial in today's competitive job market. Diploma students will need to achieve a required standard in English, Maths and ITC through the assessment of functional skills that give you the skills and knowledge necessary for learning, employment and personal development. Additional/Specialist Learning: Diploma students also take GCSEs, or other awards that are either relevant to the main area of interest (eg GCSE Art) or you could choose to broaden your study programme by doing a language or science Student project:Diploma students will complete a project to demonstrate the skills and knowledge you have acquired. You can choose their own project which could involve anything from a drama performance or video production to designing a stage set or producing photographs. The project can be on an area of specific interest not covered in the principal learning.
