This apprenticeship will cover all aspects relating to the knowledge of creative and digital media techniques. Areas explored include Media Audiences and Products, and Digital Graphics for Interactive Media. It is delivered in our state of the art studios using industry standard Apple Macs and Adobe Creative Software. It will provide you with an essential and relevant toolkit for solving commercial creative and digital media brief requirements across a range of sectors.
This apprenticeship could see you working in media production where job roles can include: videographer, animation assistant, production assistant, digital and social media assistant, web designer, trainee/assistant photographer and radio broadcast assistant.
So if you have creative flair, can interpret customer briefs and can work with media and design software then this could be the apprenticeship for you. Apprentices who qualify in design will work in advertising agencies, media production companies, boradcast or radio, in fact the industry is expanding and employs well over 200,000 people. You will learn basic design principles, how to work to a brief, how to work in a team and how to complete research for design projects.

Course programme

Entry Requirements

Entry criteria varies depending on the framework that you are studying and the needs of the employer, however a good level of secondary education is expected and many employers expect you to have maths and English GCSE at a C grade or above. Employers also look for skills like motivation, good interpersonal skills, good communication skills and a willingness to learn and will set their own specifications depending on the role, but usually experience expected with at least one of the Adobe Creative Suite programs, e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere or AfterEffects. Film production, social media, web design, photography or radio experience desirable according to job role. Portfolio and/or showreel of creative and digital media work.

Delivery and Assessment

The duration of an apprenticeship will vary depending on the needs of the employer but you will be required to complete qualifications during the period usually with set study days. As part of the apprenticeship, there will be a number of specific skills that your employer or college tutor will monitor and observe to prove that you reached a certain level of understanding. Regular assessment visits are carried out by the college’s assessor approximately every 4 weeks and Progress reviews are also conducted with yourself, the college assessor and your employer mentor.

Progression

On completion of the apprenticeship, you should have the skills to work as a videographer, animation assistant, production assistant, digital and social media assistant, web designer, trainee/assistant photographer and radio broadcast assistant or other related role.
