The Foundation Degree in Creative Make Up Design and Practice offers undergraduates an opportunity to gain fundamental techniques and academic training including anatomy and physiology and key practical skills required to work within the make up industry.
Students will be taken on a journey from the past to present in order to gain invaluable knowledge of contextual and cultural influences in order to be inspired to design and create for today’s competitive make up industry. Throughout the Creative Make Up Design and Practice course, students will take part in a wide range of workshops, practical assessments and design briefs, supported by academic work in order to produce a portfolio and business plan ready for employment.

. What are the entry requirements? Entry on this course is through a successful interview for all applicants. We will normally expect applicants to have one of the following qualifications and a minimum of 160 UCAS points (64 points under the new tariff): Relevant Level 3 qualification A levels (grade A-C) Portfolio that is design based Art or Make Up All applications should normally demonstrate satisfactory performance at GCSE level in the form of at least five passes at grade C or above to include GCSE Maths and English, equivalent qualifications may also be considered. Mature students may not meet the standard entry requirements but they may still be considered for a place on the course. In lieu of a portfolio, applicants may complete a project as an alternative demonstration of ability. All applicants are invited to attend an interview with either the Course Leader or Course Tutor. You will be notified of your date for your interview by our Admissions Team who will also update UCAS Track with details of your application. Foundation Entry If you are keen to study this programme but do not meet the entry requirements, take a look at the Foundation Entry route: Design (Foundation Entry) - BA (Hons).. What can I do if I complete this course? Students graduating from this course will be prepared for employment in the Make Up industry. You will be equipped with the knowledge and creative skills to pursue a new career, or advance an existing one in the field of Make Up design and practice for example: Commercial Make Up artist Cosmetic company Make Up artist Freelance in the fashion and photographic industry Editorial and catwalk Music industry Make Up Artist Personal Make Up Artist Freelance/ contractual TV and film productions Make Up Artist / Make Up designer Theatre based – Make Up/Wigs leading to Make Up designer Special effects Make Up artist for TV and film Own business enterprise. Duration 2 years full time / 3 years part time. Cost You don’t need cash to enrol on a course. Tuition fee loans cover university or college tuition fees and are paid direct to the university or college, by Student Finance England. They are available to all eligible students regardless of household income. The amount you pay back is dependent on how much you earn and not how much you owe and you won’t need to start paying them back until you are earning more than £21,000 per year. Student Loans will also help to support your living costs.
