About this course
A general level of education equivalent to GCSE at Pass grade or above with a minimum of 1 GCSE grade D in either Maths, English or Science.
A short, informal interview will be required for entry onto this course.
Students are also required to have a minimum of one day per week work placement in a Beauty Salon to qualify for this course.

Exam:
Students are continuously assessed through out the course in the form of practical, written and oral assessment. Students should expect to study for a minimum of 3 hours per week - home study.There is also an externally assessed test paper for Health and Safety.

Professional Appearance:
Professional appearance is of paramount importance in the salon, to create the right image to attract clientele. Females: white therapy tunic and white trousers. Low heel white court shoe, closed heel and toe. Males: white therapy tunic, black smart trousers, flat black lace-up shoes. A high standard of personal grooming. Hair must be neat and tidy, black/white accessories only. Nails must not extend beyond fingertips and be unpolished. No artificial nails. No jewellery. White cardigans only.
Notes:
Candidates cannot be considered for this course unless they have secured a placement in industry. This is to ensure continued professional development.
Other Costs:
Kit and uniform lists are available from the Beauty department and will include current costs.
Students are advised to seek advice from Student Services regarding current Exam and Course Fees.
Students will also be required to purchase 2 text books, writing stationary and ringbinder files - full details will be given at Interview.
Duration:
2 evenings per week, Tuesday and Thursday 5.30- 9pm. One year.
If the applicant does not have a Grade C in English or Maths (or equivalent) they may be required to attend from 4.30pm.
Plus a minimum of six hours home study, to include practical work to develop skills
Plus a minimum of one day per week placement in industry.
