Course programme

Creativity Photography using the darkroom
Who is this for?
The course is designed for people who have had some previous experience of photography. You do not need to be an expert. Students on the course do often return to photography after a few years break. Others simply want to take their photography a little further. The course is more creative than technical and is designed for people that want to use photography in a more self expressing way.

What Will I Learn?
You will learn the following:
-How to improve your creative control of your camera.
-How to improve your darkroom techniques.
-About the workflow and the challenge of creating high quality personal photographic works. The emphasis being on a strong body of images rather than just good individual photographs.
-About the approach and work of other photographers.
-About your own personal motivation to create photographs.

Content of the Course
Using the medium of photography this course aims to give participants a greater understanding of how we perceive and give meaning to the world as well as ourselves through a deeper connection to our own creativity. Completing a series of set projects students will explore the subjective and personal nature of image making alongside looking at how we uniquely communicate, relate to and read images. Previous technical experience isn't necessary as students will learn about camera functions, film processing and printing your own images. All work will be made using Black & White materials so you will need a 35mm SLR film camera. Chemistry for processing and printing will be provided at a cost of £10 payable to the tutor.
