MA Cultural & Critical Studies
Part-Time Programme
The MA in Cultural and Critical Studies explores contemporary cultural debates across disciplines and media - for example, film, photography, digital media, literature, and music. We welcome students on the course from a wide range of backgrounds.
The course engages with new technologies, new cultural forms and the new forms of enquiry that have recently transformed the traditional disciplines. You will study globalization, the social construction of space, the everyday, digital culture, surveillance and technologies of the gaze, aesthetics and cultural theory, the politics of sexuality, the organisation of knowledges, questions of high and low culture, sensory perception, and cultural production and reproduction.
A flexible combination of core and optional courses with independent research enables you to tailor the MA programme to your personal interests. Thanks to a thorough training in Cultural and Critical Studies, the course allows you to engage with advanced work at Masters level and is also an excellent preparation for doctoral research.
