Suitable for: The Programme is aimed primarily at existing and emerging leaders working in dance, theatre, music, literature, the performing and visual arts, heritage, museums and galleries and film agencies, as well as in bodies associated with their development and funding. It may also be of interest to emerging leaders from 'creative industries' although they should be aware that many of the issues and models discussed will apply mainly to organisations operating with some degree of public and private subsidy.

Entrance requirements

Candidates will generally be:

* managers or specialists with at least five years' experience of management within the cultural sector, managing a team or directing a small to medium arts organisation. For those already working at senior level but without previous opportunities for formal development, the Programme will validate and strengthen existing leadership skills
* those with significant artistic or specialist expertise but less management experience
* graduates or those with equivalent work experience

This two-year, part-time MA provides professional development for existing and emerging cultural leaders, giving you the knowledge, skills and confidence to assume new challenges and responsibilities at all levels.

The MA is one of the world's first fully-accredited cultural leadership courses to Master's degree level.

Structured around a series of short, intensive workshops, it is designed for people who aspire to greater personal and professional development but have demanding jobs and busy personal lives. This structure also enables students to relate what they have learned to the workplace.

In addition to postgraduate accreditation, you benefit from:

Requirements

Entrance requirements

Candidates will generally be:

  • managers or specialists with at least five years' experience of management within the cultural sector, managing a team or directing a small to medium arts organisation. For those already working at senior level but without previous opportunities for formal development, the Programme will validate and strengthen existing leadership skills
  • those with significant artistic or specialist expertise but less management experience
  • graduates or those with equivalent work experience
  • proficient in written and spoken English (IELTS level 7.0)

We anticipate that most participants will be currently employed by organisations, but some may be freelancers, consultants or on career breaks. In the latter cases we would expect participants to identify an organisational sponsor, who would provide a workplace context from which the participant could draw "raw material" for reflection and analysis.
