Cyber Crime

This course covers the microscopic analysis of working practises currently used by cyber crime investigators. It will focus on specific levels of knowledge, responsibilities and the understanding of the methods used for cyber crime investigators. It will also encapsulate all levels of management and investigation to enable all specialists to demonstrate a strong understanding of cyber crime, fraud and associated irregularities.

Senior and Junior Investigators of crime within both law enforcement and legal organisations; practitioners in the field of cyber crime investigation and members of organisations who are required to have management knowledge of cyber crime investigation. It is also ideal for financial investigators within both the public and private sectors.
Objectives

Conduct investigations in order to obtain copies of relevant computer records whilst saving the integrity of the records

Gain extensive skills required in handling electronic and computer based fraud

Construct and implement systems to provide a more secure cyber environment and avoid the occurrence of cyber crime

• Investigation of Internet Providers i.e. Internal Service Providers, Web Host Providers, E-Mail Providers, Chat Service Providers, Voice Over Internet Providers
• Acquiring IP Addresses to investigate i.e. E-Mail Headers, Chat Session Monitoring IRC, ICQ etc, Network Capturing, Provider Log Files, Options for Evidence
• Investigation of IP Addresses i.e. Trace Routes, Internet Number Registries, Number Registry, WHOIS
