Engage with academic staff who already work in the dance industry, bringing the latest trends and ideas into their teaching
Put your skills into practice with opportunities for work placements in charity, arts, health, social care and educational settings
Extend your repertoire thanks to our strong links with Déda, the only dedicated dance house in the region
Showcase your choreography skills through public performances.
Develop your understanding of the body, dance and movement – and gain the skills to work creatively with others to foster self-discovery, wellbeing and communication.

In-depth knowledge, broad experience
You’ll deepen your knowledge and experience of dance and movement, building your abilities in choreography and improvisation as the basis of studio practice. At first you’ll work individually and then in small groups, culminating in a public performance.

A key focus of this course is on the health and social aspects of dance and movement. You’ll consider the impact of disability, gender and society, looking at how dance can bring people together to promote inclusion. You’ll also explore different cultural perspectives of dance and movement, including the chance to apply eastern beliefs to your practice.

Through optional modules you can study the structure and function of the human body, discover how people develop creatively and undertake your own research into dance and movement.
