Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
How will I be assessed?
Principal assessment is based on core-dance training and the development of a range of dance skills. Students must also develop an ability to analyse and record their own progress. Students will also be assessed on their understanding and use of the dance related media subjects listed above. It is not compulsory that students develop a wide range of technical multi-media skills but it is essential that students progress towards an ability to incorporate related disciplines into their dance work and to find opportunities to collaborate with specialists from other aspects of the media.
What can I do afterwards?
Dance students from Lewes have progressed to a range of prestigious dance schools including the London School of Contemporary Dance, London Studio Centre, Central School of Ballet, The Laban Centre and The Northern School of Contemporary Dance. Ex-students from Lewes have also gained employment as dance teachers, have started their own dance-related businesses and have worked with professional dance companies in the UK and Internationally. There is also an exciting opportunity to move on to the new Contemporary Dance Degree at Sussex Downs College.
