About this course
You will have at least 4 GCSEs at grade C. At least THREE must be from : English Language or Literature/Humanities (History,Geography,RS,Sociology,Psychology)/Business/Science (Core and Additional OR triple)/Maths. Alternatively you will have a DISTINCTION in a Level 2 Diploma OR an NVQ2 OR a CACHE Cert.

This course is designed for students with a keen interest in Dance who are looking for a practical and performance based approach.
What does the course involve?
You will study 5 hours per week. The course is mainly practical and performance based. However there are regular written assignments, essays or reports attached to the assessments. In year one you will have the opportunity to take part in the college dance shows, in which you will dance solos, duets, trios and or groups, dependent on the assignment. You will have the chance to develop your practical dance and performance skills to a higher level, take on new genres of dance, and develop choreographic skills. You will also have opportunities to evaluate your technique and improve your knowledge of professional repertoire. In year two you will create your own dance show and take it on a mini tour.
What will I study?
2 Core units (Compulsory) Performing to an audience. Dance appreciation.
Specialist Units Choreographic Principles. Developing classical ballet techniques. Developing contemporary dance techniques. Jazz dance.

Audition workshop
All students will be invited to an audition workshop to ascertain dance levels.
