This course combines Matchett strengths in Project management and its industry leading experience in the development and training of Investment Bankers. This is a ground-breaking exercise in merging skills from different industries to create a strong solution for the often pressurised life of the Banker. Through the rapid application of proven Project Management techniques, Bankers can better manage the complexity and multiple contributors who all feed into getting the deal done.
Each tool will be taught using tutorial style and reinforced by involving delegates in the application of each tool on a project from their work area.
  • Project Lifecycle - will focus on understanding the importance of a phased approach to project planning; Clarifying scope and deliverables; Agreeing accountabilities and responsibilities within scope; Identifying best practice in project planning processes and; Prioritising amongst competing project work and ''business as usual''
  • Work Breakdown Planning - Critical task identification; Planning back from key milestones; Breaking down projects into manageable work packages; Improving time and cost estimating and; Identifying work synergies and economies
  • Team Coordination - We will concentrate on Ordering tasks in optimum configuration given organizational / environmental constraints; Listing assumptions upon which project plan is based; Quick and effective impact analysis under changing conditions; Maintaining a risk log; Clarifying critical path and dependencies to coordinate all project contributors; Prioritising work effort and communication and; Managing multiple contributors
  • Time Management: Under Promise, Over Deliver - looks at applying a simple and effective time management tool; 360 degree management, the pivotal role of the project manager; Identifying reasons for project failure and deploying mitigating actions; raising problem issues and; What to do if the project crashes
  • Getting Things Done - Looks at potential problem analysis and smart decision-making; Validating assumptions; Checking and controlling the numbers with better estimating techniques and; Getting stakeholder sign-off to nail down your plan
  • Managing Project People - This session explores controlling ''scope creep'' with an efficient change management process; Handling difficult contributors; Planning negotiations in tight environments, hard and soft elements of negotiation planning; Clear goals and keeping your head amongst chaos and; Who, what and how to ask for help
  • Best Practice - An open session to discuss and agree how PM disciplines can be applied to banker life and utilising skills and experience from analyst realities
